In search of a song...

If you're a crazy music lover. If passion drives you to do anything and everything in life. If rythm and sound run in each and every atom of your body. if you can make music with anything that appeals your eyes and ears; AND 'where the mind is without fear', then venture out in search of 'your' song! =)

Since i discovered that i love fusion, i quite like the music series 'The Dewarists'. Check them out, every Sunday, 8 pm, Star World.
Sharing the first episode, 'Minds Without Fear'.

Also sharing one of my really old sketches titled 'Music', which i now believe needs to evolve! ;)

MadhuBani!

Having keen interest in making intricate designs and love for nature, i stumbled upon an informal workshop on Madhubani and Warli art, sometime last month. Sharing some of my first designs:

‘Madhu’ means honey and ‘bans’ is forest. Madhubani is hilly forest terrain in Bihar state in Eastern India . Madhubani, or Mithila, painting is a folk painting of northern India. The area of Mithila lies near the border of India and Nepal and carries a rich pastel of cultural legacy in art and literature. Its heritage goes back at least 2,500 years and its celebrated figures include the Buddha and Mahavira. It is also the birthplace of Sita, the central character in Ramayana. Hence, her life stories are frequently depicted in the local art.
Madhubani art is inspired by the urge of Invocation of holy spirits, the divine power the God and their creation of blissful nature, flora and fauna. The paintings are traditionally based on mythological, folk themes and pastoral symbols. The central themes of most paintings are love, valor, devotion and fertility, though the approach may vary. So it is common to find scenes of courtship and marriages and symbols of fertility and prosperity like fish, parrot, elephant, turtle, sun, moon, bamboo tree, lotus, etc. in prominence. The paintings are normally depicted on mud walls during family events, ceremonies, marriages and also daily life. Bright colours depicting mythological scriptures, epics, legends make Madhubani a very attractive art form.

Yellow!

Yellow [5.10.11] water based pencil colours on paper

 Yellow by Coldplay

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh all the things I've done
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh all the things you do
Cause you were all yellow

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know for you i bleed myself dry
For you i bleed myself dry

Its true
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine
look at the stars
look how they shine for you
and all the things that you do...
